The Blanchard's Cricket Frog (Acris blanchardi) is a small (1.6-3.8 cm [0.6-1.5 in]) frog with a slim waist and is light gray to greenish brown. Its call sounds like river rocks being tapped together starting at about once per second and then increasing in speed. Tadpoles are usually herbivorous, and adults are usually insectivorous depending on prey availability. The Blanchard’s Cricket Frog will experience a high degree of climate exposure and has a moderately high adaptive capacity. Overall, it has a Climate Change Vulnerability Index ranking of Less Vulnerable under the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 Scenario and Moderately Vulnerable under the RCP 8.5 Scenario. The Blanchard’s Cricket Frog’s climate change vulnerability is impacted by factors related to movement, life history, and abiotic niche, which influence its ability to shift in space, persist in place, and respond to climate change impacts.
