The Plumbeous Vireo (Vireo plumbeus) is a small bird (12-14 cm [5-5.5 in] long; 12-20 g [0.4-0.7 oz]) with a thick bill. It is gray above and white below with a white spectacle around the eyes. It forages for insects and fruit while slowly hopping through foliage in dry-montane coniferous and mixed-conifer, deciduous forests. It ranges from Colorado, Nevada, and Utah, south to Arizona and New Mexico, and down through parts of Mexico and Central America. The Plumbeous Vireo will experience a high degree of climate exposure and has a high adaptive capacity. Overall, it has a Climate Change Vulnerability Index ranking of Less Vulnerable under both Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and RCP 8.5 Scenarios. The Plumbeous Vireo’s climate change vulnerability is impacted by factors related to movement and life history, which influence its ability to shift in space and persist in place.
