The Miner Bee (Perdita cara) is a ground-nesting species in the family Andrenidae. Very little is known about this species. This is a Chihuahuan Desert grassland species, collected in the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico and in the Davis Mountains in western Texas. Bees in this genus typically forage on pollen and nectar from very few plants, so their emergence is closely timed with the phenology of their host plants. Based on habitat and ecology, the main threat to this species is likely the increased incidence and severity of drought due to climate change.
