The Sonoran Lyresnake (Trimorphodon lambda) is a medium sized (61-91 cm [24-36 in]) snake found in rocky regions of the southwestern US and in Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, and Otero Counties in New Mexico. This snake is mildly venomous but is not considered dangerous to humans. It preys on lizards, small mammals, nestling birds, and snakes. The Sonoran Lyresnake will experience a high degree of climate exposure and has a high adaptive capacity. Overall, it has a Climate Change Vulnerability Index ranking of Less Vulnerable under both Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and RCP 8.5 Scenarios. The Sonoran Lyresnake’s climate change vulnerability is impacted by factors related to movement and abiotic niche, which influence its ability to persist in place and respond to climate change impacts.
